Christmas

  1. I chose Christmas because it is one of the most festive holidays out there, plus there are only 11 more days to celebrate it. Currently there are plenty of disagreements in the world, whether it is political or environmental Christmas is always the light.
  2. Christmas is a Christian holiday honoring the birth of Jesus Christ, it has been celebrated for over 2 millennia with Christian traditions. Nowadays Christmas is spent opening gifts with delicious foods and you family or friends. The most popular traditions include exchanging gifts, decorating trees, attending church, sharing meals with your family and friends, and waiting for Santa Claus. In the United States December 25th has been a light for families through even the darkest snow days since 1870. When Christmas  was celebrated in America it was changes into a family centered day of peace. Now would this be a Christmas article if I did not write about one of the most famous icons of the holiday, Santa Claus. Santa Claus has his own history, staying brief Santa Claus started with Saint Nicholas, the Saint was said to be one of the most kindest people who would help the poor and the sick. Once that legend made it to New York the Saint's name was shortened from the original to the Dutch version, Sint Nikolaas. Not only that but a member of New York's Historical Society had distributed cut-outs in 1804 which had a background of filled stockings, fruit, and a "rascal" in a blue three cornered hat, red waistcoat, and yellow stockings. This holiday has been a special time for anyone who can remember their childhood, with the Christmas tree lit up and the presents wrapped and ready to exchange. Who could forget the undeniable smell of cookies from the oven, and the sound of a jolly music playing as you spend a moment you will remember for a lifetime.Image result for christmas
